Non-gonococcal urethritis

Urethritis, an inflammation of the urethra with or without discharge, is most commonly caused by chlamydia or gonorrhea, but can also be caused by Ureaplasma urealyticum or Trichomonas vaginalis. Urethritis as a result of chlamydia or other infections tends to be more subtle in presentation than gonococcal urethritis.

This patient presented with urethral itching and a clear urethral discharge - 10 days after unprotected intercourse. Symptoms presenting more than one week after unprotected sex tend to be non-gonococcal in nature.
