Cervicitis is an inflammation of the cervix with a mucopurulent or purulent discharge containing an increased number of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs). Causes of cervicitis include chlamydia and gonorrhea (though these infections are frequently asymptomatic in women). This condition is also seen in women without an STI.
