Bacterial vaginosis: Gram stain

This is a gram stain of vaginal fluid from a patient with bacterial vaginosis. Note the clue cell - an epithelial cell whose surface is covered with bacteria, obscuring the cell margins. Clue cells are typical of BV, aiding diagnosis.
