Non-primary genital herpes

This patient engaged in unplanned sexual activity. As a condom was not available, she and her partner agreed to oral sex only. The patient subsequently presented with genital lesions determined by viral culture to be HSV-1 herpes. Viral culture with typing can distinguish between HSV-1 and 2.
