Canadian SARS Numbers

Canada: As of July 18, 2003 there are a total of 439 cases; 251 probable (14 active) and 188 suspect (0 active) in Canada. See tables 1 and 2 for today's breakdown of case status by affected province/territory and tables 3 and 4 for numbers reported over the previous ten days. Changes since the last report include: 1 additional probable case. This case was quarantined on May 22, 2003 and developed symptoms on May 24, 2003. The case had no contacts and there was no transmission to any other people. The case has fully recovered and the file has been closed. The most recent date of onset of illness for a probable case is June 12, 2003; this case was quarantined on June 4, 2003. International: As of July 14, 2003, the WHO is no longer publishing daily cumulative numbers of reported probable SARS cases. Review of cases is ongoing and, in some countries/areas, the final outcome of probable cases is still unfolding. WHO continues to consolidate global surveillance data for the outbreak period, from November 1, 2002 to July 5, 2003 and will publish these findings on their website.
