Canadian SARS Numbers

Canada: As of July 9, 2003 there are a total of 439 cases; 250 probable (18 active) and 189 suspect (0 active) in Canada. See tables 1 and 2 for today's breakdown of case status by affected province/territory and tables 3 and 4 for numbers reported over the previous ten days. Changes since the last report include: 1 probable case added. This individual had onset of symptoms on May 29th,2003 (with hospitalisation the same day), and was discharged on June 19, 2003. The most recent date of onset of illness for a probable case is June 12, 2003; this case was quarantined on June 4, 2003. International: Since November 1, 2002, a cumulative total of 8,436 cases of SARS, including 812 deaths have been reported to the World Health Organization (WHO). As of today, the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has removed its travel alert for Toronto, as 30 days (or 3 incubation periods) have elapsed since the date of onset of symptoms for the last case.
