HIGHLIGHTS
In 1993, workers' compensation was awarded for a total of 15 deaths and 15,328 work-related injuries among 15-19-year-olds in Canada, representing 20 cases per 1,000 employed persons during that year. The number of work injuries reported for youth has fluctuated during the past ten years, rising from 27,185 in 1982 to 36,810 in 1988 and then dropping by more than half to 15,328 in 1993. These variations are attributable in part to changes in the number of youth in the labour market (Statistics Canada).
