Other Sports and Recreation Activity Injuries

HIGHLIGHTS

Although they are widely practised, sports and recreation activities accounted for relatively few deaths for the 1990-1992 time period. Only 6% of the deaths of individuals under the age of 20 occurred in the course of such activities. On the other hand, sports and recreation activities were associated with 17.1% of hospitalizations for all injuries (intentional and unintentional) (Statistics Canada).
