Off-Road Vehicle Injuries (ATVs and Snowmobiles)

HIGHLIGHTS

Injuries attributable to ATVs and snowmobiles accounted for almost 2% of deaths and hospitalizations for unintentional injuries in the under-20 age group for the period 1990-1992 (Statistics Canada). Between 1981 and 1992, mortality due to ATV and snowmobile injuries in this age group changed little whereas hospital morbidity has been in decline since the mid-1980s.
