Diabetes in Canada – Second Edition incorporates data from the National Diabetes Surveillance System (NDSS) as well as data from other sources. The first edition was published in 1999 by Health Canada. This second edition has been a collaborative effort between Health Canada and the many partner organizations acknowledged in this report.
Diabetes in Canada – Second Edition has been prepared primarily to inform Canadians about the burden of diabetes. It is also a resource for policy and program decision-makers in government, the health care sector and volunteer organizations. Its purpose is also to raise awareness about diabetes and support the development of effective health care policies and programs across Canada.
