2.1 Analytical Framework

The case study process was guided by an Analytical Framework for the Regional Mobilization of Population Health, developed by a subgroup of regional managers in fall 1999, as a template for the gathering of case study information (Appendix 1). The purposes of the Analytical Framework were:

  • to assess if the regions were mobilizing population health in accordance with current research (as outlined in the reference documents) and a collective understanding of regional mobilization roles

  • to ensure that the regions were gathering the information needed to produce their case studies in a consistent manner

  • to ensure that the regions were collecting appropriate information to generate story documents about population health learnings.

A working group of managers who had been close to the development of the Analytical Framework provided ongoing supervision and support to the case study initiative.
