Current Projects
As part of our mandate, NLHI is continually developing and validating
new technologies, protocols, and instrumentation that may potentially
enable clinicians to monitor disease progression in HIV/AIDS patients
in a more efficient and/or cost-effective manner. Some of the projects
that NLHI has undertaken in the last 2 years include:
Multiplexed in vitro diagnostics
- Integrated solid-phase multiple immunoassays
- Immune-function markers (naive/memory cells)
- Evaluation of 1 and 2 laser multi-color technology
- Investigation of HIV Clade Characterization Assay
Single Platform Absolute Count Technology (SPT)
- Develop Quality Control (QC) system for SPT for Absolute Counting
- Intracellular cytokine quantitation
- Development of new guidelines for CD4 cells
Clinical Potential for Quantitative Fluoresence
Measurement
- Development of new QC products for SPT
- Gating algorithms for naïve/memory cells
- Quantitative measurement of immune-status markers
