SummerActive and WinterActive
Thank you for your interest in the SummerActive and WinterActive initiatives.
Recently, the partners made the decision to discontinue in SummerActive and WinterActive as federal, provincial and territorial initiatives.
The decision reflects a collective desire by the federal government and the provinces and territories to explore new ways to help Canadians to improve their health through physical activity and related healthy behaviours.
This includes exploring initiatives to help young Canadians meet Canada’s first-ever Pan-Canadian physical activity targets for children and youth aged 5 to 19. The targets aim to increase by seven percentage points by 2015 the proportion of children and youth who participate in 90 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity over and above activities of daily living.
