The Healthy Living Symposium took take place in Toronto on June 16 and 17, 2003. The Symposium brought together key stakeholders to discuss a Healthy Living Strategy Framework with short-, medium- and long-term objectives, overall priorities and directions, short-term actions and partnerships for integrated action.
Specific objectives of the Symposium were to present and invite input on:
A number of presentations were given in the morning session of Day 1 of the Symposium. The Symposium was opened by Minister McLellan, Federal Minister of Health, and Minister Purves, Minister of Health for Nova Scotia.

Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care for Ontario, hosted a reception and showcase event on Day 1 of the Symposium that provided an opportunity to showcase a cross-section of community, provincial/territorial and national integrated healthy living initiatives. Delegates were encouraged to meet the representatives of the showcased initiatives and join in an important networking opportunity.
