Feet First: Know What You Need. A Self-Management Approach to Diabetic Foot Care

Description

The goals of this project are to increase the capacity of health care providers in the Central Health area of Newfoundland and Labrador to promote diabetes foot care by enabling them to adopt diabetic foot care service into routine practice and educate clients so they are better able to manage their own care. This project addresses a gap in current diabetic foot care services and enables diabetes patients to be more proactive in their own foot care.

Improving the Care of Children and Adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes (T1DM) and Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA): The Newfoundland and Labrador dka Project (NLdkaP)

Description

The goals of this project are to educate health care personnel in Newfoundland and Labrador regarding the early detection and proper treatment of Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) and educate families with children living with Type 1 Diabetes about the prevention of DKA. The knowledge acquired through this project will improve the medical care of children, prevent cases of DKA from occurring and reduce the suffering of pediatric DKA.
