Description

On September 24, 2004, Health Canada's Population and Public Health Branch (PPHB) officially became the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC). A Snapshot in Time is designed to facilitate this transition. The seven-page bulletin provides insight into the wide range of activities, programs, and projects initiated under PPHB that will continue within the new Agency's mandate. It describes three key roles of PHAC Atlantic: community capacity building, knowledge development, and inter-sectoral collaboration.

The bulletin also briefly mentions two new components: an Emergency Preparedness and Response function and the National Collaborating Centre on Social Determinants of Health, which will be based in Atlantic Canada.

Further information on the Public Health Agency of Canada and the National Collaborating Centres can be found at www.phac-aspc.gc.ca.
