Clinical recommendations for patients presenting with respiratory symptoms during the 2009–2010 influenza season

Posted: 2010-03-15

Since the beginning of January, 2010, pandemic H1N1 has been circulating at very low levels in Canada. It is unlikely that anyone presenting with an influenza-like illness at this time would have pandemic influenza. Physicians should exercise clinical judgement in the assessment and management of any patient presenting with an influenza-like illness. For further information on what viruses are circulating in Canada practitioners may refer to FluWatch reports or local/regional public health authorities.
